Cat and owner reunited after 9 months and 1,200 miles

leave a comment »

Ken Gold said his 2 1/2-year-old calico RV would get tuna for dinner instead of cat chow after their reunion at Tucson International Airport.

Gold, who moved to Tucson from the Seattle area nine months ago, had a microchip implanted in the cat for about $90 so that if she went missing, he could find her.

As he was packing for Tucson, Gold said, the cat clawed her way out a nylon cat carrier and hadn’t returned home by the time he had to depart for the Southwest.

Gold was notified about two weeks ago by King County Animal Care and Control staff that RV was alive and looked well.

He couldn’t afford to fly her to Tucson but he did pay $41 for a health certificate so RV could board a plane.

These babies are being nursed back to health by a very unusual mother.

Luka the german shepherd never had puppies, but is proving a wonderful surrogate mum for six rescued kittens.

And the tiny bushfire survivors, who lost their mothers in the blaze, are happy to cuddle up to the huge dog.

Five-week-old kittens Emma, Ben and Louise were recovered from the ashes in Yarrambat by CFA volunteers and brought to the veterinary hospital.

Cat saves owner from cancer [Positively Amazing]

leave a comment »

This was no ordinary CAT scan.

But Lionel Adams believes it saved his life.

Now recovering from surgery to remove cancer from his lung, Adams, 59, is crediting his eight-year-old feline friend Tiger for alerting him and his family doctor to a mass in his lung.

“He would climb into bed and take his paw and drag it down my left side — he was adamant there was something there,” he said.

“And it was right where the cancer was.”

And now Adams is heralding Tiger as a hero for saving his life.

“I think if he hadn’t done the pawing part it could have gone on for another five, six months undetected,” he said.

“I would say he’s my hero.”
