Prosecutor receives kidney from rival defense attorney [Video]

For years the two have squared off against each other inside the courtroom.

But last November Skelton’s real life drama took center stage when his condition got worse and he had months to live.

“Doctors said February, March at the most, which is exactly where we ended up,” said Skelton.

The two lawyers shared a mutual respect for one another but one day Langston contacted his courtroom counterpart and wanted to share something else.

“He called me on the phone and said, ‘I want to donate you a kidney.’ I was taken aback. He said ‘send me a donor application,'” said Skelton.

“I think he said, ‘are you serious?’ To which my response was ‘yeah I’m serious,'” Langston said.

He looks better, he feels better, and my hope is he can live a healthy normal life for a long time,” said Langston.

“This is something you just don’t forget,” Skelton said.
