Couple dress as Shrek and Princess Fiona for wedding

with 3 comments

Keith Green and Christine England spent three hours in make-up to walk down the aisle looking like the cartoon characters from the hit animated films.

Mr Green, 44, and his 40-year-old bride were covered in green paint and full costume and wigs and married in front of 100 guests also dressed as characters from the film, including the Donkey and the Gingerbread Man.

The new Mrs Green, a hospice nurse, of Barnstaple, Devon, said: “Every girl wants a fairytale wedding and I got one – with a bit of a twist. It was a real laugh.

“The idea just came to me. I knew what we would go as them because Keith looks just like Shrek. It was funny because when we said our vows Keith had these green ears sprouting from the top of his head.

“I tried to convince my teenage son to dress up as the Donkey but he wasn’t having any of it.”

Mr Green, a builder, said: “It was a very strange experience to say the least, but a thoroughly enjoyable one. We love the films and my wife tells me I have resemblance to Shrek.”

The couple hired a make-up artist to make them look like the characters – voiced by Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz – in the hit films.

The bride’s mother Annette England, 66, said: “It’s not necessarily how you imagine seeing your daughter get married but it was great fun.”

Couple has wedding at White Castle [Video]

with 2 comments

For one couple, it was a fairy tale wedding, castle and all, but it also included a side of burgers and fries.

Kurby and Krystal McDonald’s love story began behind the counter.

“I started working here and her mother was working here and she said, ‘my daughter’s going to start here soon.’ Is she single? ‘yeah,’” said Kurby.

Soon after they started dating, and now nearly a year later, family and friends came together at the White Castle in London for their wedding, slider cake and all.

“Usually people get married in a church, but think about it, it’s going to be a wedding to remember. How many weddings can you go to and then talk about it later and say ‘hey, I had a wedding in a White Castle?’” said Kelli Vanarsdale, a friend of the bride.

“I decided it would be a good idea. This is where we met and I asked her about it and she said no way,” said Kurby. “Yeah I wasn’t too up for it at the beginning,” said Krystal.

But at the end of the day, it only seemed right.

“I think it’s a beautiful thing. It’s where they met, it’s where they fell in love. You know, so why not start out the union in the same place they started out their courtship?” said Vernon Vechene, the groom’s brother.

Plus, it included all the food that comes with a white castle wedding.

“It was awesome, we had burgers and chicken and fries and we eat until we just couldn’t eat no more, so we had a really good time and i think it went great,” said Harlen Lockhart, the groom’s brother-in-law.

The couple says it does not matter what others think.

“No, no, not really. It’s about the union. I’m just happy to be with him,” said Krystal.

And for her that is enough to make it a fairy tale wedding.

Dream wedding day… for dying 9-year-old [Video]

This is one of the most touching stories that I’ve seen in a long time! It gave me chills. Do yourself a favor and watch the video. Get the tissues ready.

The bride was dressed in ruffled white and wore a tiara. The groom pledged to be her best friend forever. They exchanged rings, and the lucky North Texas couple swooned as they danced to their favorite song — “Love Bug” by the Jonas Brothers.

They may be a tender age — Jayla Cooper is 9 and the groom, Jose Griggs, is 7 — but their parents were behind them all the way.

She met her husband-to-be at a Halloween party while they were both being treated at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.

For Jayla, who has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia and who, according to her doctors, may only have weeks to live, the “wedding” was less a dream come true than a last wish.

“He is very cute, and I love him,” Jayla said of Jose, who has a chronic and more treatable form of leukemia with a strong prognosis of recovery.

“I was so excited and happy,” she told ABCNews.com. “It was really fun, and we had dances and did a lot of things.”
